Bada Imambara : Bara Imambara, a top most shrine of Muslim culture, it was build by famous ruler Asaf-ul-Daula in 1784.Bara Imambara is an Imambara complex in Lucknow, India, It is also called the Asafi Imambara. Bara means big, and an Imambara is a Muslims shrine built by Shia Muslims for the purpose of Azadari.


Chota Imambara: Chota Imambara situated in the west of Bada Imambara and it is also known as Hussainabad Imambara, Built by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah in 1837-42, it is more ornate in design with exquisite chandeliers, gilt-edged mirrors, silver mimbar and colorful stuccos which adorn the interiors. A golden dome and fine calligraphy on the exterior of the building makes it truly exceptional monument of Mughal architecture.

Gandhi Museum: Situated near Residency, the Gandhi Museum gives an insight into the different aspects of Mahatma Gandhi's life. There is a rich library in the same premises having a collection of some 18,000 books. Timing: 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Closed on Sunday.

Indira Gandhi Planetarium: Indira Gandhi Planetarium was inaugurated on 8th May, 2003 by the Hon. Chief Minister of UP Ms. Mayawati. It is made with the purpose to provide  information on different aspects of astronomy through planetarium shows exhibits a novel attraction of the city. The Saturn shaped building of the planetarium is unique of its kind. This completely air-conditioned planetarium has a state of art projection system, which gives special effects while projecting. Art projecting system, digital sound and lift-ramp for handicapped persons are the other worth mentioning facilities available here.

Jama Masjid : The large mosque with tall minarets extant towards south-west of Hussainabad Imambara and considered as one of the most beautiful mosques in India, the Jama Masjid in Lucknow is truly a gorgeous sight. Built entirely in yellow sandstone, the masjid was constructed by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423. It is mixed up architecture of Muslim, hindu as well as jainism cultural. The designs on the pillars of the masjid have been inspired by the Hindu and Jain cultures.

The Residency: The British Residency of Lucknow is a famous historical landmark of this place.It is a group of several building in a common precinct. The Residency now exists in ruins and is located in the heart of the city, in vicinity of other monuments like Shaheed Smarak, Tehri Kothi and High Court Building. It was constructed during the rule of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan II

Rumi Darwaza : The Rumi Darwaza served as the entrance to the city of Lucknow. it is 60 feet high and was built by Nawab Asafuddaula (r. 1775-1797) in 1784. It is also known as the Turkish Gateway, as it was erroneously thought to be identical to the gateway at Constantinople. It is the west entrance to the Great Imambara and is embellished with lavish decorations.
